Denny Triangle Arcology

The Denny Triangle Arcology, colloquially just called The Sphere, is a massive geodesic sphere situated in the Denny Triangle neighborhood of downtown Seattle. Built pre-war as an experiment in high-tech 'networked living,' the Arcology survived the nuclear blasts and eventually came to serve as the headquarters of the New Altruists.

Construction and initial use

The Arcology began as a joint project between RobCo, Poseidon Energy, and various subsidiaries and wealthy individuals, with sponsorship by the U.S. government. It was built of steel, concrete panels, and reinforced glass. The geodesic frame which encompasses the sphere rests on large rubberized pilings that allow the building to withstand shockwaves. The intent was to build a blast-resistant, self-sufficient habitat.

Poseidon Energy's contribution to the project was the incorporation of an upgraded version of their PoseidoNet network into the hardware of the building. This pilot program, dubbed TriNet, was enough of a success that the network was expanded to many other corporate, governmental, and military facilities throughout the Cascade region.
