Midge McCay

Midge Parker McCay is a computer scientist who resides in the Denny Triangle Arcology. She is affiliated with the Followers of the Apocalypse and the New Altruists.

Appearance

Midge is short, about 5'3", a little pudgy with a round face and springy curling hair. She usually wears a navy skirt and white button-up shirt with a long tweed coat over them for warmth outdoors. She's often a little scattered and anxious, nervy due to Mentat use (especially the orange ones), and speaks with a slightly stuttering affect. Though not at all inclined towards violence, she carries a laser pistol for self-defence.

Biography

Born in Dayglow, New California, McCay was the child of scrappers who broke down salvage from the nearby West Tek Research Facility. Advanced technology became something of a fascination for her and she went north to the Boneyard to study under and eventually join the Followers of the Apocalypse. Though really geared more towards medical study, the Followers recognized her talent and she earned a place of distinction as something of a pre-war technology wizard, especially with computing. When word reached the Boneyard that there was a treasure trove of advanced network systems waiting to be dissected in Seattle, their choice of delegate was obvious.

Personal life

McCay is asexual and aromantic. She has developed a dependence on Mentats and has to take regular doses so as not to develop migraines. Overuse, though, also creates migraines.

She is an obsessive fan of a pre-war comic called Captain Cutlass and the Pirates of the Air, a swashbuckling series involving a seaplane pilot roaming the world in search of fortune and, Robin Hood-like, doing people a good turn if he thinks they deserve it. Midge's favorite character is Estrella 'Stray' Turner, Captain Cutlass' on-again-off-again love interest and primary rival. Secretly, she's been writing fanfiction of Turner's adventures on her personal terminal.
